Overview
Lining up timber grain across a multi floor staircase, panel by panel, is a job for an in house joinery factory. Complete Construction delivered the full cabinetry package for HSBC’s New Zealand head office on Quay Street in Auckland, engaged by LT McGuinness. The scope was high end joinery across several floors, with a fully timber clad staircase as the central feature.
Key challenges
- Lining up timber grain to the millimetre across a multi storey staircase.
- Fabricating a custom curved handrail that holds a live green wall.
- Coordinating premium joinery across several floors of a live programme.
How we solved it
Our factory detailed and prototyped the staircase cladding before fabrication, then sequenced the grain alignment panel by panel. The curved handrail was custom made to house the living green wall, with the services integration coordinated alongside LT McGuinness.
Outcome
The staircase became a workplace centrepiece and earned a Best Design Awards Gold Pin. HSBC shows what Complete Construction’s in house joinery manufacturing delivers at the top of the commercial market.
