Overview
How do you install a two level spiral staircase inside a trading shopping mall? You build it off site and crane it in. Complete Construction delivered the first COS store in New Zealand for the H&M Group at Westfield Newmarket in Auckland. The 439m² two level space has premium finishes, clean architectural lines and a central spiral staircase as its main design statement.
Key challenges
- Handling the staircase’s size and weight.
- Getting millimetre coordination across the structural openings.
- Meeting delivery windows that were critical to the programme.
How we solved it
We prefabricated the staircase off site, craned it in segments, then coordinated the multi stage delivery and reassembly. Procore and 3D planning let us manage the sequencing, rigging and structural interfaces without disrupting the surrounding shops.
Outcome
COS opened on time to the brand’s international standards. The feature staircase anchors the space and marks COS as design led retail built inside a live mall.
