Overview

Converting a heritage waterfront building into a modern dining precinct is a specialist job. Complete Construction repurposed the 116 year old Auckland Fish Market on Jellicoe Street in Wynyard Quarter for Sanfords. Working with Izzard Design, we turned the historic site into a hospitality hub with nine seafood eateries, a courtyard bar and shared dining spaces.

How we solved it

We kept it practical and prefabricated the cabinetry and joinery in house to speed up installation. Careful sequencing across tenants let us meet each eatery’s brief while keeping the whole precinct on programme.

Outcome

Opened in 2019, the Auckland Fish Market is now a waterfront landmark and still anchors the Wynyard Quarter dining scene. Eight of the nine eateries later chose Complete Construction for their own fitouts.
