Sudima Rooftop.

Overview

Getting a large rooftop bar up a hotel lift means building it in sections and rebuilding it at the top. Complete Construction delivered the full interior fitout for the Sunset rooftop bar at Sudima Hotel on Hobson Street in Auckland. The scope covered the bar and lounge, banquette seating, service zones, an outdoor terrace and all the specialist finishes, to suit CTRL Space’s bold, vintage LA look.

Key challenges

• Achieving curved forms, bold colours and high contrast finishes.
• Keeping the outdoor areas durable and weather resistant.
• Sequencing the work under rooftop access limits.

How we solved it

We prefabricated the fitout off site to keep it accurate and cut time on the roof. Installation was sequenced with the structural and services trades, and specialist finishes and protective coatings held the quality across the interior and exterior.

Outcome

The rooftop opened as a bold, high end hospitality space where the indoor and outdoor areas connect. The Sunset bar is a rooftop fitout delivered in an exposed, access constrained spot.
